Who needs nutrition coaching and how can it help you?
ELITE Strength & Performance nutrition coaching involves working with a Precision Nutrition certified health professional. Together we will sit down and figure out areas where you need to make changes. Our professionals will provide the needed information, support, educational materials, and follow-up to help you make and maintain the necessary dietary changes.
Nutrition coaching is good for everyone, whether healthy or not. If you’re already a healthy eater, going to ELITE Strength & Performance nutrition coaching can help you fine-tune your food choices or get inspiration for new, healthier recipes.
What does nutrition coaching entail?
In our bid to help you figure out the necessary dietary changes you need to make, our nutrition counselors adopt a five-step approach which involves the following:
Assessment of your dietary habits: An ESP nutrition counselor invites you for an interview, during which they ask questions about your typical food intake and exercise habits. To assess your dietary habits, they will ask you to keep a 3 day dietary journal. This will give them a general idea of your dietary habits. They may also ask you to track your exercise over the same 3 days.
Assessment of your body weight: Your nutrition coach will also check your weight and body fat. These variables will help them assess your present nutritional status and figure out what amount of various food groups you need to take per day to remain healthy.
Identification of necessary changes: Even if you are aware of the dietary changes you need to make, you are not likely to understand how to go about making them. The nutrition coach will help you identify the various options you have and then educate you on the health effects of each. They also help you identify the areas where change is needed and how to implement the changes without harming your health.
Identification of barriers to change: Nutrition coaches understand the likely reasons why you may not want to affect the dietary changes you need to make to live a healthier life. These reasons might be cost, inconvenience, social gatherings, food preferences, lack of knowledge, or lack of time. Once these reasons are taken care of, achieving your goals becomes easier.
Goal setting: You and the nutrition coach will together set goals regarding your dietary changes. These goals focus on what you need to do to achieve the change, not on an absolute value, such as achieving a certain body weight.
Maintaining the changes: Once you’ve achieved your goals, your Elite Girya nutrition coach will educate you on how to maintain the changes over the long term — because for most people, this is the most challenging part. Keeping the changes permanent would require self-discipline, self monitoring, and continued checkup.
