We use the John F Barnes method of Myofascial Release integrated with structural work to assist you through your pain and the healing process.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a whole body, hands-on form of manual therapy that is not only safe but also highly effective technique for eliminating pain, restoring movement and improving overall quality of life. MFR helps to restore the length and elasticity to the connective tissue “web” within our bodies known as fascia.
Fascia surrounds and infuses every structure of the body: muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, and organs. When we suffer a trauma, or undergo surgery, suffer from inflammation, or just have poor posture, our fascia will shorten and become restricted placing enormous stress and pressure on surrounding and distant structures. MFR addresses the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms. Approaching the body as a whole is what allows for long lasting results.
Myofascial Release works by applying gentle but sustained pressure in the area(s) of restriction. The gentle but sustained pressure allows the tissues to soften and elongate, thereby reducing the crushing forces on pain sensitive structures such as nerves. It also reduces compressive forces through the joints and allows for proper alignment of the joint structures to return. It is only with sustained pressure into a fascial restriction, that the tissue undergoes permanent change.
Myofascial Release is used to treat many different conditions such as:
- Neck Pain
- Back Pain
- Sports Injuries
- Sciatica
- TMJ Dysfunction
- Whiplash
- Myofascial Pain Syndrome
- Scoliosis
- Chronic Pain
- Chronic Fatigue
- Restriction of Motion
