Hi! Cheri here. And I’m quite unique.… didn’t you know?
What I mean by that is I am a personal trainer AND a physical therapist. Kinda cool, right?
The #1 concern that people have before becoming a client is this: I want to lose weight, feel good again, and not get hurt in the process.
So I’m in a unique position to help people reach their goals while being safe.
I’m Selfish
If I had to be honest, this place was born out of a selfish desire to not get old myself.
Before I opened ESP in 2014, I was active and “worked out” on and off. But as I was getting, ummm, older, I found myself packing on the pounds and no longer able to drop them as quickly as I had done in the past.
I had also suffered a knee injury that made it painful to walk, never mind run or squat! Even after surgery I wasn’t able to get back to my previous activity level.
This made it even harder to lose weight.
I was just like a lot of my current clients.
I wanted to lose weight and be able to move and feel better. I wanted to be able to go up the stairs without huffing and puffing.
I wanted the pain to stop so that I could feel normal (ya know… just walk like a normal person!)
Enter the Kettlebell!
I credit kettlebell training with not only helping me to lose 35 pounds but also helping me move better!
Kettlebells are not the only equipment we use at ESP but it is our focal point. I still favor them in my own training.
They are easy to use, easy on the joints and you get a lot of bang for your buck.
I would tell you that I move better now than I did when I was in my 30’s. I am also a lot stronger than when I was in my 30’s and feel great about that.
Sound Familiar?
But I digress… I, like many of my clients, had been to trainers that put me on a slew of different machines, made me run on the treadmill, and do crunches until I wanted to puke!
I had enough of “experts” putting me through run-of-the-mill workouts that were not helping me and in fact, making my injury flare up.
So I decided that with my existing background as a NY State licensed physical therapist and certified athletic trainer I would also become a kettlebell instructor…
Why is this important for you to know?
It means I understand movement and injury.
That combined with my own history means I understand your concerns and fears when it comes to joining a new gym.
I Am NOT Your Average Trainer…
- I am in my 50’s.
- I understand the up’s and down’s of losing weight and getting healthy.
- I am a licensed physical therapist, certified athletic trainer, and certified kettlebell instructor.
- I focus entirely on helping you reach your goals while being as efficient and effective as possible, aka… getting the most bang for your time with me.
Cheryl also operates PARAGON Physical Therapy, a manual therapy practice.
